Books or Movies? Introduction

Hello Bookworms!
Alright, so today I am addressing a topic which has caught my attention. Please be warned, for the moment this is the only controversial topic that I will address on this blog, I don't  want to get into an argument with people. Anyway, I have noticed that most of this generation seems to be of the opinion that books are pointless, and eventually every good book will be turned into a movie. The result they reach is that there is no reason to read. Unfortunately, when you use that reasoning that is the only result to get. Therefore, I would like to open up a 'debate' as to which is better. Please respond with which one you think is better-with your reason why-and then once I have enough comments I will do another post like this one and address the  thoughts. However, I will list my personal reasons why books are better than movies.
1. Books are longer.
If you are reading a book or watching a movie, you are (supposed to be) doing so for entertainment's sake, and also to analyze the story's plot-lines; what it says about the world, and what the underlying message of the story is. Books take about five to six hours to read, if you are an expert. (My books normally do, maybe yours don't) Movies on the other hand take only two hours to watch, except for some of those long ones like The Lord of the Rings, which take about two and a half to three hours. The point is they are very different.
2. Books use your imagination.
A book can say 'It was a green forest,' and you can imagine a gorgeous emerald forest with moss growing underneath, or you can imagine a dusty old forest with dying trees and dry ground; the choice is left to your imagination. When a movie tries to show you a green forest, it shows you what the writer thinks a green forest would look like. This is just another image on a big screen filled with flashing images that never once use your imagination. If you think a line went the wrong way in a movie, that's your thought, and you have to deal with it. In a book however you can imagine the conversation with the tones and inflections you think the character might have.
3. Books are accessible.
When you are on a long car trip or a camping trip and there is no electricity, (You should be enjoying nature, but in case you're not) you can always read a book. Movies you have to wait for, and find plugins for, they come with all these strings attached; however books are always there. Books you just have to pick up and read, and then suddenly you are in a whole different world. And for this world you don't have to tune out the rest of the world, you can pause at any time and just pick back up where you left off.
Anyway, please tell me your thoughts on the matter! Thank you for reading, please follow and comment! Habent sua fata libelli!
